Day 952

“Remainers need to wake up a bit. Sorry, that’s just how it is. Screaming #stopbrexit only hardens Brexiters’ resolve and maintains the fiction that Brexit is a thing. We need to present alternative strategies: and I’m suggesting regional devolution and a UK federation of around 12 or 13 – this is the only bold strategy that is big enough to knock Brexit off the table and soothe the anger of people who voted for it. The only “significant realignment of UK politics” that the EU will require before trusting us with membership again. It is also what the divided country needs, where all parts of our land can feel confident that they have a stake in politics, shifting the relentless focus on London and providing a bigger political ecosystem for better politics to flourish.”
